A concussion is a type of injury but it could be worse since it involves the brain. No known cure has been discovered yet and preventing it from happening is the only known way. There are serious injuries that might happen if this is not prevented.

First thing is to educate yourself. It is always vital to be fully informed about its prevention. Proper techniques while practicing and playing are also required for any sport. Some organizations have taken actions to lessen the risk of accidents by limiting contact practices.

If it is a football, the team can have hours of no contact practice. Eliminating contacts like head to head and blocking can also be implemented. There are policies being implemented and it is up to the team to follow those. Practice regulations may also be applied during the game itself.

Most concussions are resolved with rest within just a week or several days. Great number of this case also take longer to heal and others may also experience long term consequences. Others go unreported. An accurate report may not be found for an individual that experienced it and experts warn that it could give serious injury.

The risks of having it are real because this is a matter of life and death or experiencing long term disability. It is extremely vital therefore that all involved in the sport understands how to determine the signs and the symptoms. You should know what to do if it is suspected that someone may have experienced it. Be informed and be up to date of any cure to ensure that you can apply them when it happens to you.
