Your Gluten-Free Diet Does Not Need To Be Dull And Boring

By Mary And Vlady

Celiac disease is more common than most people think today and a lot of people are dealing with gluten sensitivity issues. Yet, one can still eat well, have fun, and enjoy life, while maintaining a gluten-free diet. It's even possible to lose weight and with a few simple changes like these, you may notice things getting easier.

Better crusts for your pies - Just because your crusts have to be gluten-free (GF) doesn't mean they can't taste good or have a nice texture and consistency. If you want to avoid hard crusts, be sparing with the water, so use as little as you can. However, even the best efforts may end up with tears or cracks, but many of them can be smoothed out with a finger.

Store bought bread - You can find many good GF breads on the market today. However, they are not going to be the same as the old fashion soft bread that you may be used to. For best results, keep the bread frozen and only remove a few slices at a time to thaw. Also, because GF bread can sometimes crumble, you'll have fewer problems if your toast it.

Making your own bread - If you want the best GF breads, you should consider making your own. It may take quite a bit of trial and error, but what have you got to lose? In fact, there is no need to throw away your mistakes. You might be able to crumble them up and use them for stuffing or meatloaf recipes. You could even try to create your own salad croutons.

Lactose - Did you know that many people with celiac disease are also lactose intolerant? This can be very frustrating because you might be following a good GF diet and still feeling poorly. If you suspect lactose intolerance, try using plain yogurt when you need buttermilk. Of course, there are also some very good lactose free milk products on the market.

Eat more fresh vegetables - Fresh vegetables do not contain grain proteins that you are allergic to. Why not have a large fresh salad every day? This is a great weight management strategy. Salads are very filling and provide many important nutrients you need. Just make sure and check the salad dressing and croutons closely. In fact, you may be better off making your own.

Don't cook alone - When you share experiences with others, it greatly enhances them. That is why movies and music are much nicer in the company of people you care about. Enlist a friend or family member to help you in the kitchen. You can experiment and try out new and exciting recipes. Plus, your helper just might have some good suggestions to improve your meals.

Try Herbalife - There are some excellent products available that are made for people with food allergies. For instance, Herbalife Formula 1 is a great tasting shake that is free of gluten, soy, and dairy products. Plus, it is made for people that are watching their weight, so you can enjoy all the good things of GF living without any guilt.
